“Let’s wait to take pictures when the snow is gone…” I hear this all the time in the photography industry! Snowy engagements, while cold, still have their own perks! I mean look at these beautiful photos!
LOCATIONS: I love to have my couples play and run around in the snow. It shows their playful side and tells a story. Each of the these photos were taken in different locations. 1. Logan, Utah 2. Palisades, ID 3. Idaho Falls, ID
I love the contrast that is created between subject and background, and I feel like the snow really brings out your subjects. Also the contrast between the pine tress and the snow just makes for a beautiful setting!
Being a primary South Eastern Idaho photographer, I get asked if I get bored of the same old locations. But honestly, Idaho has so much to offer in terms of variety. We have forest landscape, in some cities we have a decent amount of industrial as well. We also have so many lakes and rivers to choose from that each have their own unique characteristics. We are also so close to the amazing view of the Tetons and Teton National Forest. I love shooting in this area because everywhere you turn, there a new location to photograph. I spend a lot of my time driving to shoots or weddings, and while doing so, there have been countless times that I will pull over and drop a pin to save the location for an upcoming shoot. I love that about our area.
Winter can often make it difficult to reach more elaborate locations. Many roads and trailheads will close during the winter time due to snow. That is why taking the time to location scout OFTEN. You never know when you might need a backup plan! 😉
