We’ve all attended a wedding reception or two that was painfully awkward because the dance floor was empty except for that one random guy that no one knows.
If you’re a bride having nightmares about this happening at your reception, have no fear. Here are some ideas on how to avoid this situation…
1. Group Photo on the Dance Floor
Have your wedding coordinator or photographer call all your guests to the dance floor for one big group photo. As soon as the photo is taken, have your DJ, band, or friend with the aux cord BLAST an upbeat song or a good throwback. Everyone will already be on the dance floor and ready to party!
2. Coordinate a Dance with Your Wedding Party
Not only can this be entertaining for your guests but it’s a perfect way to invite others to the dance floor. Towards the end of the dance have your wedding party invite guests to join in!
3. Hire a Live Band or Professional DJ
Nothing beats the energy a live band or DJ can bring to your reception. After all, their job is to entertain!
4. Provide Limited Seating
Think about it, if there’s nowhere to sit, they’ll stand, and if they’re standing it’s much easier to get them on the dance floor!
5. Bust the Speakers and Everyone’s Eardrums
Okay, not literally, just hear me out. If the music is loud enough that your guests can’t really talk to each other they’ll have no choice but to dance, right?
